Christopher Kelk is a graduate of St. Andrews University, where he studied under the renowned Sir Kenneth Dover. He went on to earn a Dip. Ed. at Oxford and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Classics at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
Though he stopped reading Classical texts over the 25 years following his receiving his doctorate, while he concentrated on his career as an actor, he resumed the practice and has since translated many Greek and Latin works from Hesiod in the sixth century B.C.E. to Ausonius in the third century A.D. His chosen modus operandi is rhyming couplets.
His translation of Juvenal's satires, The Satires of Juvenal: A Verse Translation, was published by Edwin Mellen Press in 2010. He also won a medal at the 1975 Boston Marathon.
